RE: Ordered my Koni's today !

SNIP Ummm.... why is everyone looking at installing these themselves? I was quoted only about $100 bucks to install all 4. :h 1) Because we are frugal (cheap?). 2) Because it's a pain in the tukus to take it to a shop when you are a full timer. 3) Because I can buy three 1.75 liter bottles of Famous Grouse scotch with $100. :B Good point. I understand!. :) :)

RE: Ordered my Koni's today !

Hi Clay, I too am interested in the Koni FSD's and wonder how difficult it is to do it yourself?? RVSKIER, I have the same coach as you do, 2001 Itasca Sunrise 30W and I live in Burien. Maybe we could compare notes. Ummm.... why is everyone looking at installing these themselves? I was quoted only about $100 bucks to install all 4. :h

RE: This Flying J ..Nasty..Nasty

If you think that one is nasty, try the Flying J over in Orange Texas. Talk about nasty. Poop everywhere, and no one working there gives a "Flying J" about it either.

RE: Where to buy a pocket door?

Have you checked one of those RV sales catalogs? My TT (not a Winnie) has a hollow core pocket door and I love it. Hard to believe they don't make them any more. good luck I don't know about any RV Sales catalogs. All I know is campingworld, rvupgrades, and winnebago parts. What catalogs are out there??

RE: Interior Moldings

There is a glue that is sold at Home Depot and it comes in a tube where you will need a caulking gun. But it says right on it that it replaces nails. I used it at home on the installation of a door jam and it works really good. "Liquid Nails"??

Ordered my Koni's today !

I hope I did not waste my money. I feel like I am taking a chance on this purchase, but I have heard so many good things about these Koni shocks, I had to do it. On my F53 V10 Chassis, running over a pencil sounds like running over a 2x4 (bang... bang). Hopefully these new shocks will give me some relief.

Where to buy a pocket door?

I have a place in our motorhome where a pocket door was supposed to go, but there is not a door there, instead there is simply a thin folding fabric partition. I was considering buying and installing the a pocket door, but I do not know where to buy one. A replacement door is not available from Winnebago, and a residential door looks too thick. I guess I could make one, but I have no idea of the type of wood (would need to be lightweight) to use. Is there a place that sells different sizes of RV interior doors??? I have found exterior doors for sale, but no interior.

Steam cleaning carpets - plastic protector?

I am considering having the carpets steam cleaned. I noticed the carpet underneath the dinette has a plastic clear protector over it. It is thicker than plastic wrap, but not much thicker. Sorta looks like you could easily tear it out completely. The carpet underneath this plastic sheeting somewhat needs to be cleaned over the years. My question is, are we supposed to leave this plastic sheeting in place? or is that something that most folks remove? I am not sure if that plastic stuff is meant to be removed and is only there from the factory install as a protector, like a plastic lamp shade cover. :h

What luck! Craigslist!

I was in the process of buying a new Flexsteel recliner for a lounge chair. I shopped around, and picked out a fabric and all. Added it all up and it was going to be over $1000 bucks after delivery. Before placing the order, I decided to check out the Houston area "craigslist". Under furniture I searched for "rv". I found the exact same chair, with the perfect fabric, nearly perfect condition. Picked it up today for $150...... YES!!! Almost as good as recycling.

Winnebago Dual Fuel Option

I was looking at some old Winnebago brochures and noticed that in 1980, Winnebago offered a "dual fuel" option. According to the brochure, this option allowed you to switch your engine from gasoline to LP Gas with the push of a button. Seems like a good option to have, and makes me wonder if they or anyone else still offers this. If not, sounds like a good time to offer it.

RE: Who's going to survive...

I think fleetwood will weather the storm as will Winnebago. Fleetwood has lots of other businesses and Winnebago is not leveraged as much as others. Do not know about Tiffin but I own a Newmar and believe that the Amish ownership will keep the business floating as they can always rely on the farms and other interests to feed their families. Besides many motor homes are purchased for cash by retirees so lending problems won't affect them. This industry is nothing like the Auto industry. The auto industry has so much money tied up in Bricks, motar and high tech machinery that they burn cash at a very high rate. None the less I only see Chrysler going under or merging but would not be surprised to see one of the Japanese firms purchase GM at these bargain stock prices. Whio could pass up a chance to own Brands like Chevy, Corvette, etc.ect. wait a minute... some Amish people own a motorhome company?? Amish cannot have a motorized vehicle, but own a motorhome company? ... interesting .. :h

Anyone out there with a 2000/2001 Itasca Suncruiser?

I am looking for anyone that has a 2000-2001 Itasca Suncruiser or its sister coach Winnebago Adventurer to give me a "measurement" of the lounge chair (behind the passenger seat, next to the door). Mine did not come with a chair (because it is a Handicapped accessible unit). But in my particular situation, I could have a chair there, but I don't know what type of chair or size to buy. I have the parts manual, and the chair is listed in there, but no measurements. I called Winnebago parts, but they cannot give me the measurement of the chair either, and they no longer have the chair available for sale. So, I am looking to purchase a chair from RVupgrades or Brad/Hall or someone, but I want to get a chair that will fit and look right. Seems like all chairs are too big for that area, so it would be helpful to know the measurements (Width and Depth) of the original chair to give me some basis of a replacement chair to buy. If anyone has one of these units, I would appreciate it if you could give me a quick measurement of your factory chair. (A picture would be good too!) :) Thanks.

RE: Colonoscopy thread deleted?

Whew. Just finished (and already back on the rv.net)! All is well. Found nothing wrong with that end anyways. Yes, the hard part is the day before. The test itself is basically lie on your side and take a nap. Wake up and all is well. Then you get to go EAT!

RE: Colonoscopy thread deleted?

I agree, I am having mine done tomorrow (really!) and I would like any feedback anyone has! Right now, I am starving.

Honda CRV Tow lights - how does yours work?

I tow a 2003 Honda CRV with the roadmaster Falcon 2 tow bar. All works fine, but I don't like the way the tail lights work. Looks like the Honda turn signals don't light up when signaling, instead the same bulbs signal left and right that signal the brake & running lights. On my 2003 CRV, the turn signals are the YELLOW lenses (later years to be replaced with a White/Clear lens). Anyway, the HONDA CRV turn signals are not what lights up when signaling. I called the installer and they remain confident that it is setup correctly. How does your's work on your CRV? Does the actual signal light "lite"?

RE: Fresh water pump - what was the problem?

Just a couple of things that I should have mentioned about my situation in my original post: 1. The screen on the pump was clean and the pump was running. 2. I removed the inlet line and the discharge line a couple of times in the many attempts to make the pump prime. 3. The tank was completely full. Visually the water line was many inches above the pickup line. 4. We were slightly tilted toward the rear when this was going on.

Fresh water pump - what was the problem?

We had trouble this past weekend with our water pump in our 2001 Itasca Suncruiser. The fresh water tank was completely full. We parked, setup and all, but could not get the water pump to prime. I tried opening all the faucets, turning the pump on, but no matter what I did, it would not prime. I tried everything I could think of, including pouring some water in the pump, but had no luck. I tried over and over for almost 3 hours with no success. Then, I decided to drive away (aggravated too) and find a water faucet to connect up to somewhere, to see if that would help the pump prime. As soon as I drove the rig down the road about 1/2 block, the pump primed instantly and worked flawlessly afterwards all weekend. I wonder what the problem was? My dealer says my pump may have bad seals inside it. I don't mind replacing the pump, but it worked perfect once it primed up. Anyone have any idea of what the problem might be?? Wife says it was "just one of those things" :)
